Carrying hundreds of soda cans and spirit bottles in an airplane not only becomes costly for the airlines but it also slows down the drink service to passengers. Addressing the issue German firms SkyMax and Air Eltec have come up with a rolling automated drinks machine, the “Skytender trolley” that promises to accelerate drink service while reducing the cost by a great margin. Dispensing hot and cold drinks at the touch of a button, the Skytender automates the service to let the passengers enjoy their favorite drinks.
Capable of dispensing juices, cocktails, soft drinks, tea and coffee without the need for soda cans, water boilers and coffee makers, the automated drinks trolley can be arranged to present 18 drink options from over 100 flavors to the passengers. Measuring about the size of a standard airline drinks trolley, the Skytender makes use of RFID tags to sense the syrup boxes or water tanks for a perfect drink. Moreover, the Skytender trolley is more hygienic than its conventional counterpart.
